Pre-Session: Markets likely to open in red on Thursday

Domestic bourses are expected to start the day on a negative note on Thursday amid rising coronavirus cases in the country.
According to data compiled by Worldometer, the number of coronavirus cases in India has reached 5,916, with 178 deaths. Globally, the death toll surpassed 88,085, and the number of infections have crossed 1.5 million.
Further, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has indicated the curbs were likely to continue beyond April 14 although he said he would take a decision on the issue after a meeting with chief ministers on Saturday.
On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 29893.96 down by -173.25 points or by -0.58 % and then NSE Nifty was at 8748.75 down by -43.45 points.
